Fiat's new threat to the all new Honda City

Fiat's new rival to the Honda City is here , its the all new Fiat Linea which is ready to take over the new Honda City . It is the longest car in the segment with huge boot space (500 l) and a good legroom in the rear seats . Its price starts from 8.15 lakh (ex-showroom , Delhi) for the Active MJD . The Linea has been in production since 2009 but is not very successful due to lack of proper and efficient service facilities . However Fiat is trying to expand its service . 

 This car is extremely spacious and is very comfortable to drive and is indeed a driver's car . And in fact all the Fiat cars are spacious whether new or old (for eg: the Palio , Uno , Siena , Punto). It has excellent Engineering skills put into it as it is loaded with many useful features . The Hyundai i20 is a super-mini car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 2008. The i20 made its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008 and sits between the i20 and i30. It is a front-wheel drive car and is available in three and five-door versions. But in India the
five-door version was launched . 

This car was launched in 2008 and is still manufactured in India . It is manufactured in Tamil Nadu . This car was face-lifted just once since it was launched in 2008 .

It changed the way we looked at cars

Yes , it is the Maruti Suzuki Swift .The Suzuki Swift is a supermini car manufactured by the Japanese Suzuki Motor Corporation. It was originally named SA-310 at its debut in 1985, but in 1986 it was renamed the Swift. In India it was manufactured from 2005 and is still manufactured today . Initially it had a 1.3 liter petrol engine and the diesel was launched later . This car first appeared in a Hindi movie named  'Bunty aur Babli'. It looked lil' odd when it was launched back in 2005 but soon became a huge success . It had three versions:

• LXi
• VXi
• ZXi

Later when the diesel was launched three more variants were launched:

• LDi
• VDi
• ZDi

The ZXi and the ZDi were the top-end models . 

The Diesel car had (and still has) a 1.2 liter engine borrowed from Fiat with some minor tuning giving out 74ps power . 

The Petrol initially had a 1.3 liter engine but from 2011 it is powered by a 1.2 liter engine giving out 85ps power .

This car was face-lifted thrice since it was launched in 2005 .

Note: The LXi and LDi , VXi and VDi , ZXi and ZDi look the same both from outside and inside but the engines are different .

It is a wonderful car but a bit small when compared with its competitor cars like the Ford Figo , Hyundai i20 , Honda Jazz , Chevy Sail Hatchback etc..

As the title says this car as this car plays a role contrary to its looks . This car is an absolute beast . From the outside and inside it looks like the machine of a CEO or the MD of an established company , but under the bonnet it has a 2 liter engine powered by 121 horses with a torque of 305 nm with unmatchable performance . This car was a monster on the highways and a king on the road . 

This car took just 9.8 seconds to go from 0-100 kmph and gave an average mileage of 14 kmpl which was reasonably good for such a big and powerful car . 

This car had 2 engine options :

• 2.0 liter Diesel
• 1.6 liter Petrol

This car had 2 versions :

• LS
• LT
• MAX

 The LS is the base version but has :

This car was , however , not so popular due to lack of proper service .

Maruti Esteem

This car is the upgraded version of the previously popular Maruti 1000 (1990-1994) . This car was manufactured from 1994 to the end of 2007 and was hugely popular during this time . This car was face-lifted thrice to survive in the market . Its competitor cars were the Hyundai Accent and the Ford Ikon (1.3) . This car was hugely popular as this car was fuel efficient and was also peppy , better and faster than its competitors . This was supported by excellent service from Maruti Suzuki . 

This car had a petrol and as well as a diesel version . The petrol car was immensely popular but the diesel could not make a substantial presence in the market . The diesel car had a 1.5 liter engine borrowed from Peugeot giving out 57 ps power . 

The petrol version had a 1.3 liter engine giving out 84 ps power which was extremely peppy and was faster than the Ford Ikon 1.3 as the latter was a bit heavier than the Esteem . 

This car had 3 versions :

• LX
• LXi
• VXi
• D
• Di

D and Di were the diesel ones whereas the others were petrol . 

This car was a great car of its time and was later replaced by the Maruti Swift Dzire .

The legend that just left us

Yes , its the Ford Ikon that left us as recently as in 2011 . Ford had made several changes to this car since it was launched in 1999 in India's Capital Delhi . This car was a huge success since it was launched . It was in fact the best of its class when it was launched creating pressure on the car manufacturers of that time especially who manufactured cars similar to its class like Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki . The competitor cars were mainly Hyundai's Accent and Maruti's Esteem . This car was launched as a replacement of the Internationally reputed car - the Ford Escort . Initially this car had a 1.3 liter petrol engine generating 70 ps power . Later the 1.6 and 1.8 versions were launched . 

The 1.6 liter version was very powerful giving out 92 ps of power and was capable of reaching 0-100 in just 13.8 secs which was too fast when compared with the cars that rolled on the Indian roads at that time . This version was launched in India at the end of 2002 and during 2003 . During this period the 1.8l diesel cersion was also launched . This car had 3 versions , as mentioned above 

• The 1.3l Petrol
• The 1.6l Petrol
• The 1.8l Diesel

The 1.6l was also known as the 1.6 nxt and had 2 varieties 

• ZXI
• SXI

There was one more option for the other models which was the base model EXI .

The car that ruled the 21st century until today and is all set to leave us !!!

By the time you might have understood which car has been mentioned on the title . Yes , its a Ford Fiesta which was launched in India in 2006 and its production has not stopped yet ! This car was renamed as the Ford Fiesta Classic in 2011 when the international Fiesta was launched in India . Later in 2013 it was again renamed as the Ford Classic and Ford took away some of the features that were present in the Ford Fiesta (2006-2011) .

This car was hugely popular as a luxury car when it was launched in 2006 and was a competitor of the Honda City . This car initially had a petrol engine and later Ford introduced the Diesel Version of this which had a 1.4 liter engine with 68 horses . The diesel version was again a great success and is still popular all over India . 

The first version of this car was not so impressive when compared to the cars of the present days but it was a great looking vehicle of its time (2006 to early 2008) .

This car had a 1.6 liter and a 1.4 liter petrol version.

Later Ford face-lifted this car with some minute changes but these changes were enough to make Honda think of launching the new city as its sale was dwindling and people preferred to buy a Ford Fiesta instead of the old looking Honda City .

The face-lifted car also had some minute technical changes in the petrol version which made the car even more powerful and fun to drive .

This car also offered (and still offers) great driving experience and was fun to drive . It had (and also has) great handling , comfort and space which helped in its popularity .

This car was and still an excellent car but it is time to say goodbye to it as Ford is planning to launch an updated model which is expected to be totally different from the present one .
